Textile design & Embellishment, Fashion Trend & Forecasting and Fashion Merchandising

Brief Description and expected Outcome

Textile Design and Embellishment is a course that equips students with the skill of making fabrics through pattern development, beading, screen-printing, stencil, tie and die and other applique works. Students will learn how to use colouring medias such as colour pencils, acrylic paints, etc. Also using beads, sequins, and assorted trimmings to develop their own fabrics by hand, how to select fabrics for the right style in making garments.

Special attention will also be giving to special creative projects in order to prepare and participate in the schools’ final year fashion show at the end of the year.

The course has been designed to cover all the key elements needed to learn the art and craft of textile. Students will understand the use of elements and principles of design in textiles to develop design, know the use and application of colour, identification of fabrics in the market, identify the types of fiber used in the composition of the fabrics, know the difference between fabric textures and other special fabric qualities, select fabrics for the appropriate garment, create fabrics in different ways using different mediums, arrange accessories to create their own patterns in fabrics, Finishes and fabric manipulations will be explored etc.
