About the Institute

Okurufi Fashion Training Centre has been established as a skill development and training center with the objective of providing practical skill training in fashion to the youth and adult who have passion in developing a career within the fashion industry.

Okurufi Fashion aims at providing livelihood empowerment skills to the youth especially women through practical training in fashion and art and also training skilled professionals to take up opportunities within the booming fashion industry in Ghana and beyond. Our success is measured by our ability to provide a curriculum that integrates conceptual, analytical, and technical skills, offer education by qualified professionals and assist and prepare students for career entry, placement, and growth in their respective fields.

At Okurufi Fashion Training Center, student begin by learning basic fashion skills and build in-depth knowledge in various pattern-cutting techniques. Students learn body measurements and simple constructions as they progress to more complicated garments including dresses, shirts, jackets, coats, pants and overalls. By the end of the one-year program, students will have gained all the required knowledge to deal with any kind of garments. Students will be well prepared for a career in the technical area of fashion. Through practical demonstrations and hands on experience, students will learn how pattern pieces are shaped to create a fitted garment, and how to lay out patterns ready to cut out and make up a garment with your new found sewing skills.

At the end of the program students will partake in a practical examination, and project on what has been taught and a compulsory three months internship with a renowned fashion institution/designer

  20. b) Select the appropriate range of fabrics available and apply to their design or concept

  22. d) Use the basic and advance techniques for making fascinators and headpieces to blocken straw, sinamay, crochet, weaving, double hat brim, turn up, felt and fabric hats and produce the basic accessories such as loops, petals, cones, leaves, roses ad coils.
