Owusu Kofi Michael
Owusu Kofi is currently the Head of Department at Okurufi Fashion Training Center. He is a Fashion Designer with specialization in tailoring and has over 12 years’ experience. As a tailor, Michael has worked with several production houses and created accurate designs using various dimensions of patterns, representing a diverse range of products.
He has been a contract worker for Christy Brown making suits, worked with GTP at the Cut, Make and Trim department, and also with Studio 189. He served as an intern at the UN ITC Ethical Fashion Initiative as a Fashion Designer.
Owusu Kofi has experience in teaching students how to compute dimensions of patterns according to sizes, considering stretching of material. Also on how to create a master pattern for each size within a range of garment sizes, using charts, drafting instruments, computers, and/or grading devices. As well as how to discuss design specifications with designers, and convert their original models of garments into patterns of separate parts that can be laid out on a length of fabric. He has also taught student how to mark samples and finished patterns with information such as garment size, section, style, identification, and sewing instructions.
He has participated in several fashion shows including the International Fashion Show under the UN’s Ethical Fashion Show in Italy(IED MODA 2014), Radford University Fashion Show, Ghana Fashion and Design Week (2x), and the Holland King’s Day Celebration at the Holland Embassy in Ghana , all as a Fashion Designer under the Owusu Kofi Tailoring brand.
He is the creative director at Owusu Kofi Tailoring, a brand he has managed since 2013,which as part of its portfolio has done productions for several clothing lines including Afriqan Apeirol, Christy Brown and the Papa Oppong brand.
He also doubles as a tailoring and pattern making lecturer at Dreams College of Creative Art, and a freelance Fashion Designing lecturer. He holds a degree in fashion design from Radford University Collage.
